Website clarity, before website work

The hard questions about your organisation, answered once.

ClarityCharter is a set of worksheets that help you write down who your organisation serves, what it offers and why it exists, so the next website project starts from something real.

We are working through the early version with a small number of organisations. The full site follows.

Want to be one of them?

Leave your email and we will get in touch when there is something for you to try.

Plain English

Privacy

You are being asked to write down how your organisation works, which is not a small thing to hand over. So here is exactly what happens to it, in plain terms.

Your answers are stored in a database. They have to be: that is what lets you come back to a half-finished worksheet, reference the same audience from three places, and see what you wrote a year ago. Storing them is the product working, not us collecting something.

You will not be marketed to

We do not read your answers to sell you things. Nothing you write here is used to profile you, target you, or decide what to put in front of you. There is no newsletter you have been quietly added to. The only emails we send are the sign-in link you asked for and, occasionally, a note about your worksheets being due for review.

What we hold

Your email address

Used to send you a sign-in link, and to tell your account apart from anyone else's. There is no password to store, which also means there is no password of yours to lose.

What you write in the worksheets

Your answers, and the previous versions of them, since a worksheet keeps its history rather than overwriting it. Only you can see any of it unless you deliberately share it.

Anyone you share a worksheet with

The email address you sent it to, and any comments they leave. They can read and comment but never edit, and you can withdraw their access at any point.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your answers, or share them with anyone for marketing.
  • We do not run advertising trackers on the pages where you write.
  • We do not use what you write to train anything.
  • We do not show your worksheets to other customers, in examples, or in a case study, unless you have said yes to that specific thing.

Getting it back, or getting rid of it

Ask us for a copy of your answers and we will send you one. Ask us to delete your account and we will delete it, along with the answers and their history.

If anything on this page is unclear, or you want to know something it does not cover, ask us. A person will answer.

This page describes how we behave. The formal notice, covering the legal basis for holding your data and your rights over it, sits alongside it.
